Copy iButton’s 64-Bit Serial Number from DS1990A-F5 to RW1990

iButton’s 64-bit Serial Number(also called ID) can be copied or cloned by TM1990B software for windows along with our
iButton Copier for Universal Serial Port
This artitcle focus on the copying process only. For copy software setup process please refer to
Install iButton Copy Software TM1990B on Windows XP/7(32bit)/8(32bit).
Prepare a DS1990A-F5 iButton key, a RW1990 key (above pictures) and an iButton copy device for serial port with Blue Dot cable as below:
First connect copy device to serial port of the computer board as below shows:
Now launch the program by the shortcut. (What is this about? Please refer to
Install iButton Copy Software TM1990B on Windows XP/7(32bit)/8(32bit).)
Then, the programmer shows as below:
Note: For copy purpose, we only focus on the red column of the program.
Put a DS1990A-F5 iButton key on the blue dot and keep holding it, then click “ROMRD” and wait for the ID show in the first text box as follow:
Then click the “Write ROM”button and wait until the ID show in the ROMID box as following:
Still keep the key holding in the Blue Dot then click “ROMReadContinu” and the START is selected as follow:
Now take off the DS1990A-F5 key from and put an RW1990 key on the Blue Dot. Now first click “Write Rom” and then click “ROMReadContinu” until the STOP box is selected as following:
Now the copying process is complete.
The RW1990 key now has the same ID as the DS1990A-F5 iButton key as shown from 1-Wire Viewer as below:
